The craze comes from South African artist King Monada’s song Malwedhe. In the track, he warns his partner not to leave him because he has a collapsing disease, and the challenge follows that cue by making people drop when the lyric plays.
The incident raised fresh concern about the risks of turning the trend into a public performance, especially in formal or crowded settings.
