m-GURUSH Brings Mobile Money to South Sudan

July 19, 2019, marked a significant milestone in South Sudan's financial sector with the launch of m-GURUSH, a mobile money platform that allows users to send and receive money using their mobile phones.

Developed by Trinity Technologies Limited, a local tech firm, in partnership with Zain Telcoms South Sudan, m-GURUSH is licensed by the Bank of South Sudan and the National Communication Authority of South Sudan to provide mobile money services.

According to Mr. Joseph Arinaitwe, Vice President of Trinity Technologies, m-GURUSH offers a range of services, including service payments, airtime top-ups, and money transfers, making it a convenient and accessible option for customers.

The platform's launch signals a major shift in the mobile money industry in South Sudan, promoting the digitization of the economy and providing users with a full suite of services relevant to their daily lives.

For South Sudan's most vulnerable populations, including displaced persons and women, m-GURUSH promises to provide real and far-reaching benefits, with the company actively pursuing partnerships with the government and humanitarian organizations to ensure ease of access to affordable financial services.

Any business registered in South Sudan can apply to become an m-GURUSH Mobile Money Agent, and customers can send amounts between 1 Pound and 100 Pounds for free, with rates starting at 15 South Sudanese Pounds for larger transactions.

The launch event was attended by key government officials, including the Minister for Information, Communications Technology, and Postal Services, Mr. Michael Makuei Lueth, and the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Hon. Dier Tong Ngor.
