Oburu Odinga says thieves broke into his home in Bondo town and stole more than 1,000 chickens, in a raid he linked to worsening insecurity in the area.
He called on the relevant authorities to act quickly and arrest those behind the theft. According to Oburu, the same criminal wave has also affected the home of nominated Siaya county assembly member Tabu Osewe, where he said chickens and other valuables were taken.
“The insecurity situation in Bondo town has soared to high levels. The thugs raided my home and made away with all the chickens in my farm. They also raided the home of the nominated member of the Siaya county assembly Tabu Osewe and also stole all her chicken stock, including other valuables,” he said.
Oburu said the area has seen repeated criminal incidents, including murders and robberies. He cited a recent case in which a man was butchered and his body dumped in a dam, as well as another killing in which a young man was attacked in front of his family while they were having dinner.
The former member of parliament urged the government to strengthen security in Bondo before more damage is done.
