A police officer is recovering in a Nairobi hospital after he accidentally shot himself while cleaning his gun at home.
Police said the incident happened on Tuesday, when the officer was servicing his weapon and it discharged two bullets. One of the bullets injured his left knee, leaving him seriously hurt.
The officer later told colleagues that the shooting was accidental. Police who examined the wound described it as serious.
Suspected robber killed by mob in Kayole ¶
In a separate incident, a suspected thug was lynched by a mob in Kayole, Nairobi, after a robbery attempt went wrong.
Police said a gang had been attacking and robbing locals when an alarm was raised and residents moved in.
Witnesses said the young man had earlier been warned by the faceless crime buster Hesy wa Dandora, but he ignored the warnings.
Police recovered two knives from the suspect, who had been accused of stabbing several people in the area. His body was later taken to the mortuary.
