Burglars broke into East African Legislative Assembly lawmaker Oburu Odinga’s home in Bondo and stole more than 1,000 chickens from his poultry yard.

Odinga, who is Raila Odinga’s elder brother, said the incident reflected a worsening security problem in Bondo town. He told The Star that thieves had taken all the chickens from his farm.

He also said the home of nominated Siaya County Assembly member Tabu Oswere had been targeted in a similar raid, with chicken stock and other valuables stolen.

Odinga further alleged that the attackers had killed his farm attendant and dumped the body at a nearby farm. He said another young man had been killed in an estate in Bondo town in front of family members.

He called for a complete overhaul of the security system in the sub-county.
