Kisii Governor James Ongwae has reshuffled his county communications team, appointing Isaac Ongiri as the new director of communications in a move that also affected two other officers.

Ongiri replaces Maseme Machuka, who has been transferred to the department of alcohol and liquor licensing. Kenan Miruka, who had been serving as deputy director, has been moved to the lands department.

Ongiri is a former journalist and politician who previously served as Makueni County director of communications. He also unsuccessfully vied for the Kasipul Kabondo parliamentary seat in 2017.

Ongwae said the decision was informed by Ongiri’s performance while at Nation Media Group and was intended to improve service delivery in his administration.

“I have made the changes in a move to ensure better service delivery in my administration,” he said.
