A Kenyan priest was killed in Kembong, Cameroon, in the country’s troubled Southwest region, where separatist violence has escalated since the declaration of an independent state by armed groups.
Church sources told AFP that the priest was shot dead in Kembong. One source said, “A Kenyan priest was shot dead in Kembong yesterday.”
A separate official in Buea, the Southwest regional capital, said the killing happened at the church and that there was no fighting at the time. The official said, “There was no fighting, he was in the... church in Kembong when he was killed,”
The church said it believed the priest may have been killed by the military.
