TECNO Mobile has introduced the Camon 11 and Camon 11 Pro in Nairobi, positioning the two smartphones as upgrades for users who want stronger selfie cameras, faster performance and more AI-driven features.

The company priced the Camon 11 Pro at Sh23,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM version, while the Camon 11 will retail at Sh14,999 with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. Both devices were launched at Serena Hotel.

TECNO said the new models extend its Camon line, which already includes the Camon X and Camon CM. The phones come with a super notch display, upgraded multitasking software and AI tools designed to improve photography and day-to-day use.

A TECNO marketing manager said the camera system is meant to improve the selfie experience. “The revolutionary AI technology embedded in CAMON 11 PRO and CAMON 11’s camera will elevate the smartphone selfie entirely. Selfie-lovers will enjoy the high-end 24 or 16-megapixel front camera, which has advanced with intelligent features based on artificial intelligence. AI-technology smartly allows to create high-quality self-portraits with natural skin color and optimize the image, achieving brighter colours and sharp contours.”

According to the company, the front camera uses AI Beauty to recognise up to 240 facial points and adjust beautification effects based on gender and age. It also supports Face Unlock and includes an AI-adjustable front LED flash for low-light shots.

TECNO said the Camon 11 has a 16-megapixel front camera, while the Camon 11 Pro carries a 24-megapixel front camera. The phones also use AI HDR and scene recognition to improve images in different lighting conditions, including night shooting.

On performance, TECNO said the Camon 11 Pro is powered by 6GB RAM and a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor. The company said the devices are built to handle gaming, video streaming and downloads more smoothly, with an anti-disturb mode intended to support a more immersive gaming experience.

The phones also include Animoji features, which TECNO said combine human expressions with 3D virtual characters for use in messaging apps and social networks. The HiOS system can also assign favourite apps to different fingerprints for quicker access.

TECNO said the fingerprint sensor can also be used to record calls immediately. The company described the feature as useful for keeping memories, conducting interviews, handling customer service calls and legal discussions.

The Camon 11 and Camon 11 Pro will be sold in Bordeaux Red, Aqua Blue and Midnight Black. TECNO said the Camon 11 will be available in TECNO outlets and selected Telkom outlets countrywide, while pre-orders for the Camon 11 Pro were extended to 25 November before general availability.
