Raila Odinga Junior’s trip to the United Kingdom ended with more than one football memory. On 22 November 2018, he was in Manchester after attending Gor Mahia’s much-publicised friendly against Everton in Liverpool, and later watched Manchester City beat Shakhtar Donetsk 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
It was at the Etihad that he appeared to run into a small photo-taking mix-up. In a short Instagram video, Raila Junior and a friend are seen joking around outside the stadium after the match, turning the moment into a playful scene rather than a serious incident.
He captioned the clip: “From the creators of #FCrenegades, we give you the #etihadstadium photo debacle.”
Nyakundi Report has preserved the original wording of the post because it was attribution-sensitive. The clip was part of a wider set of images from his UK visit, which also included his football outing in Liverpool and the Manchester stopover.
The trip drew attention largely because of the contrast between Gor Mahia’s defeat to Everton and the later Manchester City rout of Shakhtar Donetsk, making the visit a busy football weekend for the opposition leader’s son.
Additional images from the visit showed Raila Junior at different points during the UK tour, including the football-related stops that formed the basis of the social media post.
