Published on July 18, 2019, Alexandra Phillips, a British Member of the European Parliament, has admitted to secretly working with President Kenyatta's Jubilee Party during the 2017 general elections.

Phillips, who was elected as a Member of the European Parliament for the South East England constituency in May 2019, initially denied working for Cambridge Analytica, a British data-mining company at the center of several election meddling allegations.

However, in an interview with Channel 4 News, Phillips revealed that she was hired by Cambridge Analytica as a political communications consultant for the Kenya project, where she was tasked with writing Kenyatta's speeches and training the party's communications team.

"I wasn’t working for Jubilee I was employed by Cambridge Analytica who had the contract with Jubilee. I was brought on as a political communications consultant for the Kenya project," Channel 4 News quotes her as saying.

Phillips' admission comes after months of denial and follows allegations of Cambridge Analytica's involvement in several elections across the world, including Kenya's presidential poll in 2013 and 2017.

Former Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe had previously denied any direct contract with Cambridge Analytica, but admitted to hiring its parent company Strategic Communications Laboratories for branding work.
