July 18, 2019, marks a day of controversy for Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu, as his soon-to-be in-law, Herman Gitau Nyotu, was shortlisted for the position of Chairperson, Kiambu County Public Service Board (CPSB).
According to sources, the shortlist was submitted to the Clerk on Monday for tabling on Tuesday, but word soon spread that Mr. Nyotu's son, Dr. Nyotu Gitau, is set to marry Governor Waititu's daughter, Dr. Njeri Ndungu, on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
When the list was finally read out in the County Assembly on Wednesday, Mr. Nyotu's name was conspicuously missing, attributed to the murmurs generated by the reports of the impending nuptials.
Dr. Nyotu Gitau and Dr. Njeri Ndungu are set to tie the knot at the PCEA Evergreen in Runda, with the reception later scheduled for the Windsor Country Club.
Despite the controversy, Governor Waititu has yet to officially speak out on the matter.
