Nyamira County had an unusual academic story in 2018 after a set of triplets and another set of twins from Eronge Adventist Boarding Primary emerged among the county’s best performers in the KCPE examinations.
The results, published on 22 November 2018, drew attention because the siblings not only excelled individually but also tied with other top candidates in the county rankings.
The triplets are Ruth Moraa, Esther Kemunto and Mary Bosibori. Moraa tied for first place in the county with 432 marks, sharing that position with Anne Kwamboka, who is a twin.
Kemunto scored 403 marks and also tied with two other candidates from the same school. Bosibori posted 379 marks, finishing level with Dan Nyauncho, the twin brother of Kwamboka.
The children are from a family where their mother is a radiologist and their father is an accountant. All three said they hoped to pursue medical careers.
Moraa wants to become a neurosurgeon, Kemunto hopes to train as a pediatrician, and Bosibori would like to follow her mother into radiology.
Their older sister is a pharmacist, while their second-born brother is an electrical engineer. The triplets also said they lived together in the same cube at school, and credited consultation with teachers, prayer and attention to weak subjects for their performance.
Their father said hard work and trust in God helped the family’s children excel. The siblings also sing in the Christ’s Ambassadors Choir at Lang’ata SDA Church in Nairobi.
For secondary school placement, Moraa hoped to join Alliance Girls High School, Kemunto was eyeing Kenya High School and Bosibori wanted Limuru Girls. Among the twins, Anne wanted Alliance Girls while Dan hoped to go to Kapsabet Boys.
Eronge Adventist headteacher Kepha Bwana praised both sets of siblings, saying they had set a strong example in discipline and commitment. “All of them have been disciplined and they have been committed towards achieving their grades. That is why we have afforded to be proud of them,” he said.
Why the results stood out ¶
The school’s showing was notable because the triplets and twins all featured prominently in the same KCPE cycle, making the 2018 results a point of pride for the institution and Nyamira County.
