Paris St Germain have confirmed that Neymar and Kylian Mbappe picked up injuries while away on international duty, a setback that comes just days before their Champions League meeting with Liverpool.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, PSG said Neymar suffered a groin strain after straining his right adductor muscle during Brazil’s 1-0 win over Cameroon on Tuesday. He was forced off seven minutes into the match.

Mbappe also came away hurt after falling awkwardly before halftime in France’s 1-0 victory over Uruguay. PSG said the forward had bruised his shoulder and was withdrawn from the game.

“They will undergo a 48-hour period of treatment before further evaluation,” PSG said in a statement.

The French club are scheduled to host Toulouse on Saturday and were targeting a 14th straight Ligue 1 win, a run that would extend their record-breaking start to the season. Liverpool were next on the calendar on Nov. 28.

PSG were third in Champions League Group C at the time, one point behind leaders Napoli and Liverpool with two matches left to play.
