On July 18, 2019, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) announced the sacking of Nigerian football chief Amaju Pinnick as vice-president, marking a significant step in the organization's reform efforts.
As part of the shake-up, Pinnick was replaced by Congolese official Constant Omari Selemani, who previously served as Caf's second vice-president.
The move comes as Caf and Fifa signed an agreement to utilize Fifa's expertise in assessing the African confederation's current situation and speeding up reforms aimed at ensuring transparency and efficiency.
Fifa secretary general Fatma Samoura was appointed as the general delegate for the continent for six months, starting on August 1, 2019.
The decision to sack Pinnick and other officials was made amid an ongoing investigation by a Nigerian court into allegations of corruption and financial embezzlement involving Pinnick and four other Nigerian Football Federation officials.
