On Wednesday, November 21, 2018, former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech became the subject of online chatter after a post suggested he had spent $1,600, or Ksh 160,000, per night at the Maasai Mara National Reserve with his girlfriend, Paulah Mumiah.

The claim came as rumours continued to circulate that the former international striker had fallen on hard times after leaving football and had been forced to dispose of some of his investments at low prices. Oliech’s post appeared to push back against that talk, presenting him as someone still able to spend freely.

He captioned one photo:

“When u win jackpot. Maasai Mara 1600us per night.”

Paulah Mumiah was described in the post as a former wannabe socialite who later worked as a TV producer at K24TV. The article also said she shared images from the trip, including one where she was seen joking around with Oliech.

Several photos from the getaway showed the pair at the reserve, with the post framing the trip as evidence that Oliech was still living comfortably despite the rumours surrounding his finances.

Nyakundi Report note: the source article included multiple images from the trip but did not provide independent verification of the spending claim.
