On Wednesday, November 21, 2018, a video circulated online showing Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando in what was presented as a deliverance session at Neno Evangelism with James Maina Ng’ang’a.

The clip, which drew attention because of Muhando’s long-running public struggles, showed Ng’ang’a praying over her at the pulpit as she appeared to crawl on the floor during the service.

According to the account attached to the video, the singer had been battling a series of scandals that damaged her reputation in the gospel music scene and pushed her away from music for a period of years.

The same version of events claimed that she had been affected by demons after being bewitched by a former manager. It further alleged that the spirits confessed they had been sent by that manager after a disagreement, with the aim of tormenting her and disrupting her music ministry.

Nyakundi Report is preserving the source’s wording on those allegations as part of the archive record. The video itself was presented as evidence of the claims, but the article did not include an independent verification of the accusations.

The clip also placed Ng’ang’a at the center of the episode, with the prayer session framed as an attempt to cast out the demons said to be troubling Muhando.
