Former Kenya Harlequin scrum-half Lyle Asiligwa was found safe after a missing-person alert triggered concern among teammates, officials and fans. The report was published on 21 November 2018.
Asiligwa had been reported missing after leaving his house in Gathure, Kabete, on Monday at 5.30am. He had played for Quins the previous Sunday in their Kenya Cup match against Mwamba, which Kenya Harlequin won 29-26.
He was later said to have been found at a female friend’s home, where he had spent the night. On Facebook, Asiligwa sought to calm the panic, writing: “Sorry for the panic I am ok,”
The search had already drawn in Quins head coach Charles Cardovillis and the Kenya Rugby Union, both of whom used social media to ask for help tracing him. Cardovillis posted, “Let’s find Lyle Asiligwa!!” and later said, “We are making frantic effort to trace him and we pray that he is well wherever he is,” before news broke that he had been located.
The Kenya Rugby Union also appealed for public assistance through its Facebook and Twitter accounts, saying: “We are reaching out to you, the public to help us find Lyle Asiligwa, a Kenya Harlequin player who went missing yesterday early morning said KRU.”
Asiligwa had last featured for the Kenya Simbas in November the previous year, when Kenya played Hong Kong in the Hong Kong Four Nations Cup.
