On 2018-11-21, Embu’s top KCPE candidate, Telvin Gichuki, emerged with 434 marks out of 500 and said his long-term ambition is to become a civil engineer.
The 13-year-old told a local daily that opposition leader Raila Odinga has been one of his main inspirations. He described Mr Odinga as a steadfast politician and said he had followed his public life closely.
“The former Prime Minister has been my role model and inspired me to work hard so that I can a be a civil engineer like him,” Gichuki said.
He also pointed to Mr Odinga’s time as minister for Roads, saying it showed his civil engineering ability and reinforced his own interest in infrastructure development.
Gichuki said his performance came from hard work, obedience, and strong support from his parents and teachers. He added that he hopes to join Alliance Boys’ High School.
