Airbus moved to refresh its top management on November 21, 2018, naming Dominik Asam, the finance director at German chipmaker Infineon Technologies, as its next chief financial officer.
The company said Asam, a former Siemens executive, will take over as CFO on April 1, 2019. He is set to replace Harald Wilhelm, who was due to step down the following year.
Airbus also said Michael Schoellhorn will become chief operating officer for its commercial aircraft business. He will succeed Tom Williams, who was due to retire at the end of that year.
The appointments came after Reuters reported a day earlier that the planemaker was preparing major financial and operational changes as incoming chief executive Guillaume Faury tightened his control following months of turmoil over corruption investigations and output delays.
Airbus, listed as AIR.PA, and Infineon Technologies, listed as IFXGn.DE, were both identified in the company announcement. The moves marked a broader leadership reset as the group prepared for the transition into 2019.
