Nyakundi Report notes that this story was published on 21 November 2018. Florybert, who goes by Redpen, has released a new song called Badilisha as he continues building his profile in the music industry.
In an exclusive interview, Redpen said the track was inspired by gospel artistes including Size 8, Wahu and Amani, whom he described as former secular performers now thriving in gospel music.
The singer, who is originally from Congo, said the name Redpen came from friends who admired his approach to music. He said they saw him as a perfectionist who would correct others who shared his interest in music.
Redpen also said he was raised by a single parent after his father separated from his mother. He added that he came to Kenya in 2013 in search of better opportunities.
He said he began his career as a songwriter and has since worked with several Kenyan artistes, among them Vicmass Luodollar, Papa Dennis and Collo.
