On 21 November 2018, Wendy Waeni publicly shared her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results after the 2018 KCPE results were released on Monday afternoon.
The 13-year-old posted a screenshot of a message from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) showing that she had scored 340 marks in total.
Her subject breakdown showed 69% in English, 69% in Kiswahili, 60% in Mathematics, 74% in Science and 68% in Social Studies.
The result placed her in a strong position to join one of the country’s top high schools.
Waeni’s academic update came after she had been appointed an Inspirational & Enthusiastic Young Champion Ambassador by the United Nations Kenya.
At the time, she used the role to push for equal access to education. She said:
“Every child in the world has the right to a free and quality education. More than 260 million children and young people are out of school, and many of them will never get an education.”
Her public celebration of the results drew attention because it followed both her ambassadorial appointment and her earlier advocacy on education rights.
