Chantal Njeri Njue had already secured a place at St Andrew’s School Turi before the KCPE results were released, underlining how strongly the pupil had performed even before the national exam outcome became public.
The Thika Road Christian School candidate scored 446 marks and emerged as the ninth nationally. Her result also made her the leading candidate at her school.
By the time the results were out, Chantal was already preparing to join the prestigious boarding school near Nakuru town. Part of that process included a special entry examination, which she sat in the second term.
She did well enough in the assessment for St Andrew’s to admit her as an academic scholar. Headmaster Andrew Boulle described her as an excellent addition to the St Andrew’s family.
Speaking to The Standard, Chantal said joining St Andrew’s was her own decision and that her parents supported it. Frankie Gichuru, the school’s director of admissions and marketing, said the institution had identified her exceptional brightness from the initial assessment.
“St Andrew’s is a very selective school. Students have to go through a thorough assessment to join. For Chantal, the school expects a lot of her owing to her academic scholar status.”
Chantal joined the school on November 4, two months after the first term began in September. Ms Gichuru said she was adjusting well.
She is currently in year nine and will later sit the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A-Level examinations before graduating from high school.
