President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a condolence message after the death of Mzee Washington Kamaku Mwangi, the father of Kasarani MP Mercy Wanjiku Gakuya.
The message was published on 20 November 2018, and the Head of State described Mwangi as a respected public servant whose work had helped the transport sector.
Uhuru said Mwangi, who was 73, would be remembered by many people in Murang’a, where he had a positive impact on local lives.
In the condolence message, the President said: “Mzee Mwangi was a distinguished public servant who contributed immensely to our transport sector, and mentored many along the way.”
He also addressed the family directly, saying: “My deepest condolences to the family, friends and relatives of Hon Mercy Wanjiku Gakuya MP for Kasarani, for the loss of their father Washington Kamaku Mwangi.”
The President further said Mwangi had shown insight and leadership, and that he carried a strong sense of duty to his family, community and the nation.
