On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, reports said NASA leader Raila Odinga made an unannounced visit to Nairobi Hospital and settled bills totaling Sh20 million for patients admitted there.

According to an aide quoted in the report, the beneficiaries included former Makadara MP Fred Omido. The aide also said Odinga was accompanied by Makadara MP George Aladwa, who serves as ODM Nairobi boss.

The visit reportedly lasted close to an hour, during which Odinga spoke with patients as Aladwa, who had also been admitted at the same facility a few months earlier, guided him around the hospital.

The report said Odinga later instructed his aides not to publicize the gesture, saying he prefers to help people discreetly. It contrasted that approach with Deputy President William Ruto, whom the report said often boasts about helping people.
