On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, Migori Governor Okoth Obado reported back to work at the county headquarters after his release on Friday, November 16, following a second arrest.
Unlike his earlier public arrivals, the governor kept a low profile and came in with only his driver. He was received by Deputy Governor Nelson Mwaita and other members of the County Cabinet, according to the account from Migori.
Obado was facing charges tied to possession of illegal firearms. Kibera Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani granted him bond of KSh 500,000 with a surety of a similar amount, or an alternative cash bail of KSh 200,000, despite objections from the State Prosecutor.
The return marked his first appearance at the county offices after the arrest and release that had put him back in the public spotlight in 2018.
