On 2018-11-20, KCB Bank was announced as the title sponsor of the Kenya Volleyball Federation National play offs, with the tournament set for Kasarani Indoor Arena from 1st to 3rd December 2018.

The competition will run under the name KCB KVF National play offs, and the bank has committed Ksh 1 million to the prize purse and event preparations.

During the cheque handover at the Indoor Arena on Tuesday, KCB Group Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Judith Sidi Odhiambo, who also serves as patron of the KCB ladies’ volleyball team, urged the teams to push for strong performances in the annual event.

She said: “We are excited to sponsor this year’s KVF play offs, a testament of our commitment to sports development in the region, we wish all the teams the best of luck as they battle for the continental tickets “said Judith.

Waithaka Kioni, the Kenya Volleyball Federation president, welcomed the support and said the deal would help strengthen competition in the league. He added: “We are very much grateful to KCB Bank for the huge boost towards the staging of this year’s event, KCB has produced some of the country’s best talent in volleyball and we look forward to other areas of collaborations in the future” said Waithaka.

The playoffs have drawn four women’s teams — Kenya Prisons, KCB, Kenya Pipeline and Bungoma — and four men’s sides: Prisons Kenya, KDF, KPA and GSU.

The opening fixtures will see KDF men face Kenya Prisons men on Saturday morning, before KCB ladies take on Kenya Prisons.

The top teams in each category will represent Kenya at next year’s Africa club Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
