Kenya Airports Authority says work is under way to expand the passenger area at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s Terminal ID ahead of the expected festive-season travel surge.
KAA Managing Director Jonny Andersen told stakeholders on Tuesday that the authority has already completed the designs for the rehabilitation of JKIA terminals T1B, C and D.
He also said the widening of the runway at Kisumu International Airport is almost complete, a move he said will allow larger aircraft to land in the lakeside city.
Andersen, the former Director of National Airports in Norway, said KAA will continue working with the government, aviation stakeholders and development partners to grow the aviation industry and improve services for travellers.
“This will enable larger aircrafts to land at the lakeside city,” said Mr. Andersen.
