On 20 November 2018, singer Akothee sparked a fresh online row after posting a blistering Instagram message aimed at blogger Robert Alai. In the post, she accused him of insulting her publicly while also reaching out to her privately.

The mother of five said she was surprised to find Alai in her direct messages “begging” her to call him and claiming he had “a job” for her, even though, according to her, he had been calling her names on social media. She framed the exchange as hypocritical and dismissed the idea that she was someone he could pressure or manipulate.

“Robert Alai the last time I heard about you is when you were insulting politicians. Do I look like a politician to you? I dint even know you were following me until you slid into my DM begging me to call you. And that you have a job for me,” Akothee wrote in the post.

She continued her attack with more insults, asking whether she looked like an employee and mocking the kind of business proposal he was allegedly suggesting. The message also contained vulgar abuse directed at Alai, including references to his family.

Akothee ended the rant by telling Alai to direct his attention elsewhere. The Lotto hit maker later deleted the post, and Alai had not responded publicly at the time of the report.

Nyakundi Report notes that the post was already removed by the time the story circulated, leaving the exchange to be judged largely through screenshots and the singer’s own words.
