On 20 November 2018, Kizz Daniel was at the centre of a tense scene involving Babcock University students after he failed to perform at an event despite being paid 3.5 million naira, roughly Sh980,000.
According to the account from the students, they waited for about seven hours for the singer to appear. The frustration escalated after he did not take the stage, with the students accusing him of failing to honour the booking.
The dispute also turned on the conditions he allegedly requested before performing. The students said Kizz Daniel had asked for two G Wagons for himself and his team, even though they had tried to arrange a Mercedes Benz.
He later said the money offered was not enough, arguing that he was a well-travelled artiste. The students, angered by the no-show, surrounded the car that brought him to the venue and reportedly held him there until the 3.5 million naira was refunded to the organisers.
His team gave a different explanation for the cancellation, saying he could not perform because he was too tired after a show in Dubai. The incident left students disappointed, but the refund became the immediate outcome of the confrontation.
