On November 20, 2018, Alphabet Inc’s Google said it will put 4.5 billion Danish crowns, about $690 million, into a new data center in Fredericia, Denmark. The announcement came from Google’s Danish unit and marks another major infrastructure push by the company in Europe.
The Fredericia project adds to Google’s growing footprint in Denmark. Last year, the company bought another plot in Aabenraa, a site located next to a planned Apple Inc data center.
The investment underscores how large technology firms continue to expand their data and cloud infrastructure in the region, with Denmark emerging as a strategic location for such projects.
