On Monday, November 20, 2018, former Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr was unveiled as the new head coach of South African Premier Soccer League side Black Leopards.
The Englishman arrives in South Africa only days after walking away from Gor Mahia, where he resigned last Thursday. His move is likely to stir reactions among K’Ogalo supporters, given Black Leopards’ name bears a close resemblance to AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia’s long-time rivals.
Kerr leaves Kenya after a successful spell in charge of Gor Mahia. During his 16-month reign, he guided the club to two league titles and recorded 51 wins, 16 draws and 12 defeats from 79 matches.
Black Leopards turned to Kerr after Joel Masutha stepped down last week because of poor results. The club, founded in 1983, was promoted to the top flight this season and sat 14th in the 16-team league table with nine points from 11 matches.
The team plays its home games at the 40,000-seater Thohoyandou Stadium.
