Kenyan acrobat Wendy Waeni was among the candidates who received their 2018 KCPE results after Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed announced the exam outcome on November 20, 2018, at Star of the Sea Primary School in Mombasa.
The ministry said two candidates tied for first place with 453 marks out of 500. It also reported that 12,273 pupils scored above 400 marks, while the best-performing learner with disability posted 446 marks.
Waeni, who had already drawn public attention for her performances and media appearances, later shared her own result online. She scored 340 marks out of 500, placing her within the 301-400 bracket that included 228,414 candidates.
Her school results came during a busy period in her public life. Around the same time, she had been named UNICEF’s Inspirational and Enthusiastic Young Champion Ambassador ahead of World Children’s Day on November 20.
Days before the KCPE release, Waeni also met former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at his Capitol Hill office on Thursday, November 15, after she had appealed for help on Twitter. The meeting followed intervention by Raila Junior.

Waeni began acrobatics at the age of four and has performed before several heads of state and other high-profile figures, including Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, John Mahama of Ghana, and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
