On November 19, 2018, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee vice chairman David Murathe and former Gatundu MP Ngengi Muigai used a church gathering in Gatundu South to warn that ethnicity and corruption were undermining Kenya’s future.
Speaking at St Gabriel Catholic Church, the three leaders said the country could suffer serious damage if the two problems were not confronted. Wamalwa said President Uhuru Kenyatta had made up his mind to fight both vices and wanted to leave behind a legacy of national unity and cleaner governance.
He added: “Corruption fights back and the president needs the support of all and sundry if he is to succeed in the war against the vice” he said.
Murathe, for his part, said critics of the handshake between President Uhuru and Raila Odinga were working against peace.
