Busy Bee Academy tops Mombasa KCPE with 427 marks as three pupils lead the county

On 2018-11-19, Busy Bee Academy in Mombasa emerged with the county’s best KCPE performer after Ian Mailu posted 427 marks. Two other pupils from the school, Nicole Nyambura and Adan Gitare, followed closely with 426 and 424 marks respectively.

The school’s results also showed a wide spread in performance, with the lowest score recorded at 308 marks. Busy Bee Academy posted a mean grade of 381.4, down from 395 the previous year.

Mailu said he was grateful to his teachers and parents for the support that helped him reach the top. He added: “I want to be a civil engineer,” he said on Monday.

Nyambura, who was 13 at the time, said she wanted to become a paediatrician. Gitare, 14, said he hoped to train as a pilot and added: “I worked really hard for this moment.”

Headteacher Dorothy Kamairu said nine candidates had more 400 marks. She described the class as fair when compared with the previous year.
