Published on July 18, 2019, John Allan Namu's documentary 'Profiteers' has made it to the shortlist for a Global Shining Light Award by the Global Investigative Journalism Network.

The documentary, a collaborative effort with Elijah Kanyi and Samuel Muni, is among the 12 finalists out of 291 entries submitted.

Other shortlisted candidates in the Small Outlets category include 'The Mask of Official Terror in Venezuela', 'The Country With 2,000 Graves' (Mexico), and 'Car Wash' and 'White Collars' from Peru.

Winning the award would see 'The Profiteers' receive an honorary plaque, Khs200, 000, and a trip to the 2019 Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Hamburg.

John Allan Namu expressed his gratitude on Twitter, saying, 'Grateful that our story was selected among these outstanding pieces of investigative work!'

This recognition comes months after 'The Profiteers' won John Allan Namu a Trace International Award for investigative reporting, despite KTN News initially refusing to air the story.
