July 17, 2019, marked a significant milestone for Xiaomi Kenya as they launched their Mi Home products at The Hub Mall in Karen. The event showcased a wide variety of Xiaomi products, including smartphones, bags, drones, wireless charging pads, smart bulbs, lighting strips, and wired headphones.
However, it was revealed that most of these products had not been selling through the official Xiaomi shop on Jumia Kenya. To address this, Xiaomi Kenya has announced that all Mi Home products will be available through their online shop on Jumia Kenya starting next week.
While not all products will be available at once, Xiaomi promises to make products like Mi Band 3, Mi Airdots, Mi Wireless Earphones, and Mi Smart bulbs available online. It remains unclear whether the online and offline prices will match, but this should be clarified soon.
After the successful launch, Xiaomi Kenya sold more than 90% of their available stock, forcing them to close shop the following Monday and Tuesday. This indicates the immense popularity of Xiaomi products in Kenya.
Plans are already underway to open a new Mi Store in Nairobi CBD along Moi Avenue, as well as two more Mi Home stores in Nairobi's Sarit Centre and Westgate Mall, likely before the end of the year.
