On June 1, 2022, Anita Soina, a 22-year-old environmentalist, announced her bid to become the next Member of Parliament for Kajiado North.
Ms. Soina, a graduate of Multi-Media University of Kenya with a degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communication, believes that her youthful energy and passion for environmental conservation make her the ideal candidate for the job.
She is running on the Green Thinking Action Party ticket, which aligns with her social change agenda that focuses on environmental protection and conservation.
Ms. Soina's interest in active politics started at a young age, and she has been a household name in official campaigns for youthful politicians, including Ababu Namwamba, since 2017.
She is also the founder of SpiceWarriors, an organization that promotes environmental conservation and rallies young people to protect the universe.
Ms. Soina's agenda as a Member of Parliament would focus on addressing environmental challenges, health issues, and insecurity in Kajiado North.
She believes that women and children are the most affected by badly crafted policies and that women are mothers and sisters who understand the solutions to problems facing communities today.
Ms. Soina is not participating in politics for the sake of it, but rather because she is deeply invested in her political career and wants to make a difference in her community.
She is optimistic about her chances of winning and believes that with hard work and determination, she can overcome the challenges she faces as a young female politician.
