On July 18, 2019, former Kenyan journalist Esther Arunga was sentenced to 10 months in prison for her role in the murder of her three-year-old son Sinclair Timberlake.

Justice Martin Burns found Arunga guilty of being an accessory after the fact to the manslaughter of her son, who died from blunt force trauma to his abdomen.

Arunga was immediately released on parole after serving her sentence.

The tragic incident occurred when Sinclair suffered fatal injuries, and Arunga was subsequently convicted of lying to police about the circumstances surrounding her son's death.
