On March 10, 2019, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashed in Bishoftu, Ethiopia, killing all 157 people on board, including a Kenyan family of five.
Paul Njoroge, 34, will be the first relative of the crash victims to testify before the US Congress, sharing his family's devastating story.
"Today, I would be enjoying summer with my family, I would be playing football with my son," Njoroge said in an interview with US media.
His wife, Carol, and their three children, 6-year-old Ryan, 4-year-old Kelli, and 9-month-old Rubi, were among the victims. His mother-in-law, Anne Wangui Karanja, also died in the crash.
Njoroge has been a vocal critic of Boeing, the manufacturer of the 737 Max plane, which he believes was responsible for the crash due to 'irredeemable design flaws.'
He is suing Boeing on behalf of his family, with the help of a Chicago aviation lawyer, Robert Clifford.
The 737 Max plane was grounded worldwide shortly after the crash, and it's unclear when it will be certified to fly again.
