Published on July 18, 2019, the FaceApp challenge has taken the world by storm, with many celebrities and social media influencers jumping on the bandwagon. However, Nyashinski, a Kenyan artiste, has chosen to remain silent, and for good reason.
According to an article in the NY Post, FaceApp's developers have access to users' personal information, including their real names, usernames, and likenesses. This raises serious concerns about data privacy and the potential for misuse.
Nyashinski's decision to opt out of the challenge has been met with praise from fans who appreciate his thoughtful approach to social media. As he explained in a post on his Instagram account, 'When you are as talented as him and as intelligent as he clearly is, surrounded by a sea of ignorant fools, you kinda see why he is the way he is.'
While some may view Nyashinski's decision as arrogant, it's clear that he's thinking critically about the implications of using the app. As he said, 'They can also use your real name, your username or “any likeness provided” in any format without notifying, much less paying, you. They can retain that material as long as they want, even after you delete the app.'
