On the eve of the 2022 European Football Championship, Bayern Munich's star striker Robert Lewandowski has made it clear that his time with the German giants is coming to an end.
Speaking to the press, Lewandowski stated, 'My relationship with Bayern has reached its peak, and my current focus is on finding a new challenge elsewhere.'
The Polish international has one year remaining on his current contract with Bayern, who are the reigning champions of the Bundesliga.
Earlier in May 2022, Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic revealed that Lewandowski, 33, had been considering a move away from the Allianz Arena.
There have been strong rumors linking Lewandowski with a potential move to Barcelona in Spain.
'One thing that is clear today is that my relationship with Bayern has officially come to an end,' Lewandowski emphasized.
'After everything that has happened in recent months, I don't see any chance of continuing with Bayern. I believe that moving on will give me a new challenge that will allow me to perform even better for the Polish national team,' he added.
Lewandowski joined Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 and has since won eight Bundesliga titles and led the team to the UEFA Champions League title in 2020.
He has scored 50 goals in 46 appearances this season and has a total of 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern over the past eight years, making him the second-highest scorer in the club's history behind the late Gerd Muller.
