Uefa has launched an independent investigation into the chaotic scenes outside the Stade de France in Paris that delayed the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The match was delayed by over half an hour due to massive queues of Liverpool ticket-holders and the use of tear gas by French police on the crowds.
French authorities have since complained about 'industrial-scale' ticket fraud, sparking a row over the game's policing.
French sports minister Amelie Oudea-Castera claimed that there were 'no problems' with Madrid supporters, suggesting that the Spanish side had better controlled their fans than Liverpool, who had 'let their supporters out in the wild.'
Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has responded by writing a letter to Oudea-Castera, demanding an apology for her comments.
Werner stated: 'The events that occurred in and around the Stade de France on Saturday night at the Uefa Champions League final were not only incredibly dangerous for all who attended, but raised serious questions about the organization and operation of the event.'
He added: 'This should be the focus of all interested parties today rather than pursuing a blame game strategy via press conference.'
Uefa has announced that a comprehensive review will examine the decision-making, responsibility, and behavior of all parties involved in the final.
