Tragedy struck on May 31, 2022, when Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi's wife, Stella Memusi, lost her life in a road accident on Namanga Road near Isinya town.
According to eyewitnesses, Mrs. Memusi was traveling in a Nissan Patrol vehicle when it rammed into a stationary trailer at around 11 pm. The impact was fatal, and she died on the spot.
Her driver, Mr. Faizal Abdi, escaped with minor injuries, but the trailer driver fled the scene after the accident.
The accident occurred while Mrs. Memusi was heading to their Kajiado rural home from Nairobi. The body was taken to Kajiado referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with Kajiado County police commander Muthuri Muongela blaming the trailer's crew for leaving the vehicle unattended in the middle of the road without any warning signs.
"The driver of the trailer ought to have alerted other motorists after his car broke down. Leaving a broken vehicle unattended in the middle of a busy road is deadly," said Mr. Muongela.
A photo of the ill-fated vehicle still attached to the trailer at Isinya police station has been shared, highlighting the severity of the accident.
