On May 30, 2022, Mc'Donald Mariga, the UDA candidate for Kibra Constituency, was attacked during his campaigns in the area.
A pregnant woman who was also a victim of the attack allegedly miscarried her child.
Mariga, a former international football player, suffered a broken arm and was treated at a nearby hospital.
According to an official who declined to be named, Mariga lost some amount of money and other valuables during the attack.
“I can confirm to you that Mariga was attacked and was brought to a local dispensary for treatment. He lost some valuables including money and phones. Unfortunately, he had not requested for security or even alerted the area authorities about his campaigns in Kianda,” stated the official.
Mariga condemned the attack and vowed to continue with his campaigns despite the incident.
“I highly condemn the attack, they have broken my arm and hit me on the leg. I know the goons who did this, they are from ODM and Azimio but I will not be scared,” he said.
“I also vow to ensure that the perpetrators of this sad act are brought to book,” he stated.
