On 31 May 2022, East African Breweries Plc (EABL) marked a significant milestone in its 100-year journey by commissioning the construction of a Sh1 billion microbrewery in Ruaraka.
The facility, situated next to the Tusker brewery, will feature a microbrewery, taste room, taproom, and a flagship store.
Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Jane Karuku officially commissioned the construction, which is expected to be opened to the public by December to celebrate the 100-year birthday of the business’s first beer, Tusker.
The microbrewery will serve as a brand home for the company’s flagship beer, Tusker, bringing to life the Tusker experience and imprinting the brand in the hearts and minds of present and next generations.
According to Jane Karuku, the microbrewery will also serve as an innovation centre, providing a platform to nurture upcoming talent in brewing and liquid development in Kenya, East Africa, and the entire Diageo.
“Through this facility, EABL seeks to shape the future of the alcoholic beverage sector in the region through the development and release of craft and novelty beers,” Karuku said.
The microbrewery space will include brewing facilities, a tasting room, and a taproom, offering visitors a unique experience with great food, drinks, and entertainment options.
EABL also plans to have a flagship store that will be accessible to the public, offering branded merchandise designed in collaboration with local artists and entrepreneurs.
