George Wajackoyah Barred from Contesting for Presidency

On Monday, the second day of the presidential candidate registration exercise, Umoja Summit Party's Walter Mong'are became the first candidate to be cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati revealed that three other presidential candidates who presented their papers for clearance were rejected due to signature shortcomings.

Usawa kwa Wote Party's Mwangi wa Iria's efforts to seek an audience with IEBC over his rejection failed. This comes as the IEBC chairman announced that three other candidates were barred from contesting for presidency due to signature shortcomings.

According to IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, the three candidates who were rejected include George Wajackoyah. The IEBC chairman stated that the candidates were rejected due to signature shortcomings.

On May 31, 2022, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati announced that three presidential candidates were barred from contesting for presidency due to signature shortcomings.
