The Nairobi Expressway has been a game-changer for residents of Nairobi and its satellite towns, providing a solution to the heavy gridlocks on the Waiyaki Way–Uhuru Highway–Mombasa Road.
Moja Express, the operator of the road, has been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth flow of traffic, safety of motorists, and protecting property and greening. In an interview with Financial Standard, Jeanne Ong'iyo, the public relations manager, highlighted the convenience of driving on the expressway.
According to Ong'iyo, the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) service is the fastest option, granting users access to the expressway in just three seconds. The On-Board Unit (OBU) device in a car eliminates the need to stop at toll stations to scan a card or pay toll fees.
Motorists can enjoy the expressway's convenience, but there are some exemptions from paying tolling charges. Police, military, ambulances, and fire engines are among the select categories of users who will not be required to pay.
Moja Express has deployed a team of employees, including ticketing managers, to ensure a smooth operation of the toll stations.
