On May 30, 2022, Rigathi Gachagua, the Mathira MP and Deputy President William Ruto's running mate, made headlines with yet another unguarded remark.
Speaking in the Rift Valley, Gachagua boasted about his expertise in making money, claiming that he would show others how to do it if they formed the government.
He also stated that Dr. Ruto's ability to endear himself to the Mt. Kenya region was due to his willingness to spend a lot of money.
"I will show you how to make money (if we form the government). Money is very sweet and leaves one satisfied. Money flattens the Mountain and that's why we the Mt. Kenya people were able to join forces with your son (Ruto)," he said.
These comments come just two weeks after Gachagua made other gaffes that gave critics political fodder to attack him and the DP.
His remarks have sparked controversy, with many questioning his suitability as a running mate.
