On May 30, 2022, East African Breweries Plc (EABL) marked a significant milestone in the brewing industry with the commissioning of a Sh1 billion microbrewery in Nairobi.
The state-of-the-art facility, located next to the Tusker brewery in Ruaraka, is designed to serve as an innovation center for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Jane Karuku officially commissioned the construction, which is expected to be opened to the public by December 2022, coinciding with the 100-year anniversary of the business's first beer, Tusker.
The microbrewery will not only serve as a brand home for Tusker but also provide an immersive experience for beer enthusiasts, offering a taste room, taproom, and flagship store.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about and sample various brews in a guided session led by sensory experts, while the taproom will offer a unique customer experience with great food, drinks, and entertainment options.
The facility will also feature a world-class beer garden with a scenic view of the Ruaraka area and a flagship store where consumers can purchase branded merchandise, designed in collaboration with local artists and entrepreneurs.
