On May 21st, 14-year-old Jackline Musyoka went missing in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, leaving her family in distress.
According to her mother, Christine Musyoka, Jackline was a learner at the Mukuru Community Centre Primary school within the slums.
Christine reported the matter to Imara Daima Police Post, but they have yet to trace her whereabouts.
Days later, Christine received information from a friend that Jackline had been spotted in an isolated area within Mukuru Kwa Njenga, but the friend did not have a phone to call the mother.
Christine narrates that before Jackline's disappearance, she looked stressed and depressed, but whenever asked, Jackline would say she was 'ok.'
As a staunch Christian family, Christine involved church members to help counsel her daughter.
However, Mukuru Kwa Njenga has been in the security agents' radar due to reports of a criminal gang targeting school-going girls to recruit them into criminal groups.
